In Muvo, the text of an artwork is not one long box: it is a list of paragraphs. Each paragraph has its own audio, its own translation and its own menu. That way you can fix one sentence without generating or recording the whole artwork again, and visitors see the paragraph that is playing highlighted in the player.
Why the text is split into paragraphs
- Audio per paragraph. Each paragraph gets its own AI voice or recording. When you change one, only that one needs new audio.
- Translation per paragraph. Each translated paragraph sits next to its original, so you can see exactly which part changed.
- Costs you can predict. Generating the AI voice or translating with AI is charged per paragraph. You always see the cost before confirming. See How credits work.
Write the default language of your space first. The other languages stay locked until it has text.
The character limit per paragraph
A paragraph can have up to 800 characters. Below each paragraph a counter shows how many you have used. It turns amber when you pass 90 % of the limit and red when you go over.
A paragraph over the limit cannot be saved, voiced or recorded. The editor shows This paragraph is longer than 800 characters and cannot be saved. Split it in two. and offers Split here at the nearest end of a sentence. Until you fix it, the save indicator says Not saved: some paragraphs are too long.
Nothing of that language is saved while one paragraph is over the limit, not even your other edits. Fix the long paragraph first.
Add, split and merge paragraphs
Open the artwork from Artworks. The text area shows the paragraphs of the default language.
Type in the first paragraph. Press Enter to start a new paragraph, or press Add paragraph below the last one.
To split a paragraph, place the cursor where it should break and press Enter, or open its menu and choose Split in two.
To join two paragraphs, open the menu of the first one and choose Merge with the next one. Backspace at the start of a paragraph also joins it with the one above.
To remove an empty paragraph, press Backspace in it. To remove one with text, choose Delete in its menu.
Open the menu of a paragraph with its … button or with a right click. It also has Duplicate, Listen, Generate audio, Record this paragraph, Upload an audio and Translate this paragraph to….
Pasting a long text
If you paste a text written elsewhere, Muvo splits it at its line breaks and at the end of its sentences, never cutting a sentence and never going over the limit. Before pasting, it tells you how many paragraphs it will create, for example Paste into 6 paragraphs.
Reorder paragraphs
- Drag a paragraph by the handle on its left.
- Or open its menu and choose Move up or Move down.
- With the keyboard, press Alt + Shift + ↑ or ↓ inside the paragraph.
Reordering, deleting and merging paragraphs never costs credits. Undo with Cmd/Ctrl + Z and redo with Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + Z. The text saves itself while you type: the indicator says Saving… and then Saved.
What happens to the audio when you edit
Muvo keeps track of the exact text each audio was made from. When you save, only the paragraphs whose text changed lose their audio; the rest keep it.
| You… | What happens to the audio |
|---|---|
| Move a paragraph up or down | It keeps its audio |
| Change the text of a paragraph | Its audio is marked Out of date |
| Split a paragraph | Both parts need new audio |
| Merge two paragraphs | The merged paragraph needs new audio |
| Change a paragraph of the default language | Its translations are marked Out of date too |
To bring the AI voice up to date, use Generate pending and outdated under More ways to generate, or Generate the audio again in the menu of one paragraph. If the text is exactly the same as an AI audio Muvo already made with the same voice, that audio is reused at no cost.
A recorded paragraph is never replaced by the AI voice on its own. If its text changes, the editor asks you to Record again. See Record your own voice.
Editing never changes what visitors hear. They keep listening to the published version, with its audio, until you publish again. See Publish an artwork and manage its versions.
