Credits are how you pay for the AI work in Muvo: the AI voice and the AI translation. Everything else is free. Your balance is always visible in the sidebar; click it to open the full history.
What costs credits
One credit is one paragraph voiced or translated with AI. Writing in paragraphs keeps the cost predictable: change one paragraph and you only pay for that one.
| Action | Credits |
|---|---|
| Generate or regenerate the AI voice of a paragraph | 1 |
| Translate a paragraph into one language with AI | 1 per language |
| Reuse an identical audio already generated in your space | Free |
| Record, upload or edit audio | Free |
| Write, translate by hand, reorder and publish | Free |
So translating an artwork of 10 paragraphs into 3 languages costs 30 credits, and generating the audio of those translations costs another 30.
You always see the cost before spending. Every action that uses credits opens a confirmation with the Cost, your Current balance and the Balance afterwards. Credits are set aside when you confirm and only charged if the work succeeds; if it fails, they come back.
Where your credits come from
Open Plan and credits → Credits to see your balance split by origin. Each kind behaves a little differently.
| Kind | Where it comes from | Expires? |
|---|---|---|
| Extra, with a date | Added by Muvo for a limited time | Yes, on the date shown |
| From the plan, this month | Included every month with Premium or Ultra | Yes, at the end of each month; they do not add up |
| Gifted | Welcome credits and credits Muvo gives you | Never |
| Purchased | Credit packs you buy | Never |
The order credits are spent in
Muvo always spends the credits that would expire first, so you never lose credits you paid for:
Extra credits with a date, the earliest expiry first.
Credits included in your plan this month.
Gifted credits.
Purchased credits.
When you run low
When your balance runs low, and again when it reaches zero, the administrators get an email and a notice in the panel bell. The sidebar balance also shows Low balance or No credits.
With no credits, only the AI voice and the AI translation stop. Your published audio guides keep playing, and you can still write, record, publish and print QR codes. To carry on with AI you can:
- buy a credit pack;
- upgrade to a plan with monthly credits;
- record the paragraphs yourself, which costs nothing. See Record your own voice.
Buy a credit pack
Only administrators can buy credits, because they are paid with the organisation's card. Editors can spend credits and can ask an administrator for more from the Credits page.
Go to Plan and credits → Credits.
In Buy credits, choose a pack and press Buy.
The first time, fill in the Tax details of your organisation. We only ask once, and they appear on your invoices.
Pay by card on Stripe. The credits are added to your balance a few seconds after the payment is confirmed.
Each payment comes with a VAT invoice you can download from Plan and credits → Invoices and tax details.
Credits on each plan
| Plan | Credits |
|---|---|
| Zero | Welcome credits once, when the space is created. Buy packs when you need more. |
| Premium | A monthly allowance of credits for AI voice and translation. |
| Ultra | A larger monthly allowance, for spaces with many visitors. |
Monthly credits renew each month and do not add up. Current prices and allowances are on the pricing page. You upgrade from Plan and credits → Plan.
Credits also pay for a few extras, such as adding more visitors to a full month or unlocking the premium QR style. The cost is always shown before you confirm.
