01What cookies areLink to this section: What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser to remember information from one page to the next or between visits. Similar technologies, such as the browser’s local storage (localStorage), work in much the same way.

Under article 22.2 of the Spanish Information Society Services Act (LSSI), cookies that are strictly necessary for a service you asked for don't need your consent. Analytics cookies do: that's why the public website asks you first and loads nothing from Google until you accept.

02Cookies we useLink to this section: Cookies we use

They are all first-party (set by muvo.es) and technical:

CookieWhat it doesWhen it is setDuration
muvo_localeRemembers the language you chose on the public website and in the dashboardWhen you choose a language1 year
sb-‹project›-auth-token (may be split into parts .0, .1…)Keeps you securely signed in to the dashboardOnly after you sign inUp to 30 days, renewed as you use it; deleted when you sign out
muvo_pass_‹venue›Stores your pass for a code-protected audio guide: an opaque token proving you redeemed a valid code. It cannot be read by JavaScript (httpOnly)When you redeem an access codeFor as long as the pass lasts (2 hours by default)

Open-access audio guides use no cookies at all.

03Analytics cookies (only with your consent)Link to this section: Analytics cookies (only with your consent)

On the public website (muvo.es, not in the audio guide player or the dashboard) we use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, which pages are read and how people reach them. It only loads if you press Accept in the cookie notice; if you press Reject, or don't answer, nothing from Google is loaded and no Google cookie is set.

CookieProviderPurposeDuration
_gaGoogle Ireland Ltd.Tell visitors apart pseudonymously to count visits2 years
_ga_‹id›Google Ireland Ltd.Keep the state of the analytics session2 years

Google Analytics is set up with IP anonymisation, without Google signals or advertising (advertising consents are always denied). Your choice is kept in your browser's local storage (muvo:consent), not in a cookie, and you can change it at any time with Cookie preferences in the footer of every page; when you withdraw it we delete the analytics cookies.

Google may process this data outside the European Economic Area. Pending legal review: To be completed by legal counsel: safeguards for the transfer to Google (EU-US Data Privacy Framework), Google Analytics data processing terms accepted, and the retention period set in the property

04Browser local storageLink to this section: Browser local storage

The player and the dashboard keep some data in your browser’s local storage. It is purely functional and is never used for advertising or to track you across other websites:

WhereWhat is storedWhy
Playermuvo:player and muvo:lang: preferences (text size, speed, contrast) and your chosen languageSo the audio guide looks and sounds the way you like on your next visits
Playermuvo:visitor: a random, anonymous IDTo count distinct visitors per venue each month and group the anonymous statistics. The server only keeps a salted hash per venue and period, never the ID itself
Playermuvo:admitted: the venues this phone has already entered this monthSo you are not counted again as a new visitor to the same venue that month
PlayerStops already played in each tourTo tick off what you have already heard in the tour list
DashboardInterface preferences (for example, collapsed panels and recording studio settings)To remember how you like to work in the dashboard

Pending legal review: To be confirmed by legal counsel: whether the anonymous visitor ID and the statistics fall within the exemption in Article 22(2) of the LSSI under the AEPD cookie guidance (for example, as strictly limited first-party analytics), or require additional information or consent

05Third-party cookiesLink to this section: Third-party cookies

Apart from Google Analytics, which only switches on if you accept it, no third-party cookies load on muvo.es: no advertising and no social networks.

When a venue pays for its plan or a pack, payment takes place on Stripe’s pages (stripe.com). There, Stripe uses its own cookies, for example to prevent fraud, under its cookie policy. The same applies to Google’s, Microsoft’s or LinkedIn’s sign-in screens if you choose to sign in with them.

06How to delete or block cookiesLink to this section: How to delete or block cookies

You can delete cookies and local storage, or stop them from being saved, in your browser settings. Bear in mind that:

  • without the session cookies you will not be able to sign in to the dashboard;
  • without the pass cookie you will have to enter your access code again (each code works on 2 phones at most);
  • if you clear local storage, the player will forget your preferences and you will be counted as a new visitor.

You will find instructions in the help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.
