An artwork is one stop of your audio guide: a painting, a room, a classroom display or a point on a route. It has details shared by every language (number, image, fields), a text in each content language and its own QR code.
Create the artwork
Creating an artwork asks for the name only. Everything else can be added afterwards.
Go to Artworks and press New artwork.
Type the Artwork name, up to 160 characters.
Check the Audio guide number. Muvo proposes the next free one.
Press Create and open. The editor opens and the artwork starts as a Draft.
The artwork gets its QR code at once. Next, write its text: see Write in paragraphs.
Each plan allows a number of artworks. Artworks shows how many you have used; when you reach the limit, archive or delete some, or upgrade. See the pricing page.
The audio guide number
The number is what visitors see next to the name and can type in the player to jump straight to the artwork, for example when they cannot scan a label. The list of audio guides of your space is ordered by it.
- It is a whole number between 1 and 99999.
- It is unique in the space: as you type, Muvo says Available or Another artwork of this space already uses it.
- You can change it later in the Details tab. If you print the number on labels, reprint them after a change.
The Inventory number is different: it is optional, for internal use only, and visitors never see it.
Name and main image
In the editor, open Artwork details. The panel has four tabs: Details, Fields, Extras and QR.
In Details, check the Name. You can type it for each active language; if a language has none, the name in the main language is used.
Under Main image, drag a JPEG, PNG or WebP file of up to 15 MB, or choose one. It is optimised automatically.
Press Save to keep the name, number and inventory number.
The main image is optional. Use Change the main image or Remove the image whenever you need to.
Fields and featured fields
Fields are the details of each artwork, such as artist, year, technique or room. Your space started with fields proposed for its kind (a museum gets Artist, Year, Technique and Room), and administrators create, order and archive them in Settings → Fields.
Open the Fields tab of the artwork.
Fill in the values. Fields marked Required can stay empty in a draft but are needed to publish.
Press Save.
A field marked Featured shows right below the title in the player, so keep that for the one or two details visitors read first, such as the artist and the year. The other fields show further down, below the audio.
Required fields block publishing. If an artwork cannot be published, the editor lists what is missing, for example Required fields missing: followed by their names.
Where it shows in the player
| Detail | Where the visitor sees it |
|---|---|
| Main image | At the top of the artwork, in the list of audio guides of the space and on the phone's lock screen while it plays |
| Name and audio guide number | Under the image, next to each other |
| Featured fields | Right below the title |
| Other fields | Below the audio, as a list of label and value |
| Extras | Below the player, under More about the artwork: galleries, videos, PDFs, links and texts |
| Inventory number | Never: it is internal |
None of this reaches visitors until the artwork is published. See Publish and versions.
