Paid audio guides

Charge for your audio guide and earn money from every visit.

Muvo is a platform for creating audio guides: you write the texts, artificial intelligence adds the voice and translates them, and visitors listen on their phone by scanning a QR code. And, if you like, you can charge for it. Here is how, in one minute.

It is optional: turn it on and off whenever you like.

The idea, in one sentence

  1. You sell a code with the ticket
  2. The visitor types it on their phone
  3. And listens to the audio guide

Six steps: the first is the usual one in Muvo; you do the next four only once, and the last one is for each visitor.

1Step 1

You create your audio guide, like any other

Nothing special because it is paid: you make your audio guide in Muvo as usual. You write the text for each artwork, Muvo adds the voice and translates it, and you print a QR code for each artwork. If you kept it free, you would be done here.

2Step 2

You switch to access with code

It is a switch in your panel. With free access, anyone who scans the QR code listens for free. With access with code, they have to type a 6-digit code before they can listen.

3Step 3

You buy the codes from Muvo

In packs of 100, 500, or 1,000 codes, at €0.50 each. It is the only thing we charge you for this.

4Step 4

You print them

Each code comes on a ticket with its own QR code, ready to hand out: on the ticket desk's ticket printer, on sheets to cut out, or in a file for your ticketing software.

5Step 5

You hand them out at the ticket desk

You decide what to do with them: charge for them separately, include them in the ticket price or give them to whoever you like. You collect the money yourself, at your desk, as always. Muvo keeps nothing.

6Step 6

The visitor types the code and listens

They scan the QR code with their phone camera, type the 6 digits and the audio guide opens, with no app to download and no sign-up. They have 2 hours to listen as much as they like, on up to 2 phones.

Step 1 of 6

Clear rules for every code

This is how every code you hand out works. The rules are the same for every space.

  • 6digits

Easy to type on any phone.

  • 2 hoursto listen

From when the visitor starts. It is the same for every code in your space.

  • 2phones per code

So a couple or a family can listen at the same time with just one code.

  • 1single use

When its time is up, the code no longer works. It cannot be passed from one visitor to another.

  • 12months to use it

A code nobody has used expires 12 months after you buy it.

Three ways to print the codes

Choose the one that best suits your ticket desk. You can print just a range (from 301 to 400, for example) or only the ones not used yet.

  • Tickets for the ticket desk printer

One code per ticket, on 58 or 80 mm rolls. The printer cuts each ticket by itself.

  • Sheets to print and cut out

An A4 PDF with 10 cards per sheet and cutting lines. Any office printer will do.

  • A file for your ticketing system

A CSV, which opens like a spreadsheet, with all the codes. If you sell tickets with software or online, you load it there and each ticket carries its own code.

What you pay and what you earn

Muvo only charges you for the codes. What you pay for your Muvo plan is separate and starts at €0.

  • €0.50per code

It is all Muvo charges you for each audio guide you hand out.

  • 0%commission

Whatever you charge the visitor is all yours.

  • €0on devices

Visitors use their own phone: nothing to buy, charge or clean.

An example: if you charge €3.00 for the audio guide, you earn €2.50 per visitor.

Get in touch
  1. How much does it cost to charge for the audio guide with Muvo?

You pay €0.50 for each code you buy, in packs of 100, 500, or 1,000. You also need your audio guide in Muvo, which you can start for free with the Zero plan. Whatever you charge the visitor is all yours.

  2. Does Muvo take a commission on what I sell?

No. The visitor pays you, at your ticket desk or through your ticketing system. Muvo only charges you for the codes.

  3. Can visitors pay for the audio guide on their phone?

Not for now. The code is sold or handed out at the ticket desk along with the ticket, or through your ticketing system if you load the codes into it.

  4. Can I give the codes away?

Yes. They are yours: you can charge for them, include them in the ticket price or give them to members, schools or whoever you like.

  5. What if the visitor passes the code on to someone else?

A code works on 2 phones at most and only for 2 hours. When that time is up, it no longer works for anyone.

  6. Can I change how long each code lasts?

Not from your panel: Muvo sets the length, 2 hours for the whole space. Only in very specific cases do we change it ourselves if you ask. What you can do is give a particular visitor 30 or 60 more minutes from «Help a visitor».

  7. Can I charge for some audio guides and leave others free?

No. Access with code applies to the whole space: either all the audio guides ask for a code, or none do.

  8. What happens to the codes I have left over?

They stay valid for up to 12 months after you buy them, even if you go back to free access and later switch to access with code again. They are not refunded.

  9. Do I need a paid plan to charge for the audio guide?

No. It works with every plan, including Zero. Premium comes with 250 codes included every month, and Ultra with 1,000.

  10. Do I have to buy devices or a special printer?

No. Visitors use their own phone. If you already have a ticket printer at the desk, it will do; if not, you print the PDF sheets on any printer.

  11. Can I make the audio guide free again?

Yes, whenever you like: you go back to free access from your panel and, from that moment, anyone who scans the QR code listens without a code.

  12. What if a visitor loses the code or their battery dies?

While their time lasts, they can type the same code again on the same phone or on a second phone. And from the ticket desk you can free their phones so they can use it on another one.

Create your audio guide with the Zero plan, listen to it yourself first and switch to access with code when you are ready.
