Everything you change in an artwork is saved as a draft. Visitors keep hearing the published version until you press Publish. This lets you rewrite a text, try a new voice or wait for a translation to be reviewed without anyone noticing halfway.

Draft and published

StatusWhat it meansWhat visitors see
DraftThe artwork has never been published, or it was unpublishedNothing: its QR code opens a friendly page of your space
PublishedThe artwork is in the playerThe last published version
ArchivedPut away without deleting it; Unarchive makes it a draft againNothing, like a draft

When a published artwork has edits that are not out yet, the editor shows Unpublished changes and the main button becomes Publish changes. To take an artwork out of the player, open More actions and choose Unpublish: its QR code keeps working and shows the page of your space.

What an artwork needs before publishing

  • A name in the default language of your space.
  • At least one paragraph of text in the default language.
  • Audio in every paragraph of the default language, generated with AI, recorded or uploaded.
  • Every required field of your space filled in. Required fields can stay empty while it is a draft.

If something is missing, the Publish button is disabled and a notice titled It cannot be published yet lists what to fix, for example Every paragraph needs audio, generated or recorded.

  1. Open the artwork from Artworks.

  2. Check the bottom bar: it says how many paragraphs have audio, for example 8 of 10 paragraphs with audio.

  3. Press Listen to all to hear the whole text as one track, or open More ways to listen → Listen with background music to hear it as visitors will.

  4. Read the line next to the button: Publishing will release: and the languages that will go out.

  5. Press Publish (or Publish changes).

After publishing, Muvo prepares the continuous track that visitors hear. If that fails, the editor shows The audio track could not be prepared with a Try again button. Trying again costs no credits.

Translations and «Ready to publish»

The default language always goes out when you publish, and it must be complete. Translations only go out when you say so. Each translation has a Ready to publish switch, off when the translation is created.

  1. Open the language in the row of languages of the artwork.

  2. Review the translation next to its original and make sure every paragraph has text and audio.

  3. Turn on Ready to publish.

  4. Press Publish or Publish changes. The translation goes out together with the default language.

You can only turn the switch on once every paragraph of that language has text and audio. If you mark a translation ready and later it lacks text or audio, it is not published until it is complete again. Translations that are not marked stay as a saved draft, for example while a native speaker reviews them; the editor reminds you which languages are waiting for review.

Visitors only hear languages that are published. If their phone's language is not, they hear the default language of your space and can change it in the player. See How visitors listen.

Go back to a previous version

Every time you publish, Muvo saves a version of the text in each language that went out. Each version shows its date, who published it and how many paragraphs it had. The one visitors hear is marked What visitors hear.

  1. Open the artwork and select the language in the row of languages.

  2. Press Version history.

  3. Choose a version to read it.

  4. Press Go back to this version and confirm.

  5. Check the text and press Publish changes so visitors hear it.

Going back only changes the draft. Visitors keep hearing the published version until you publish again. Any unsaved edits must be saved first, or the history will not let you go back.

Publish many artworks at once

In Artworks, select several artworks and press Publish. Those that are complete go out; for the others, Muvo lists what is missing in each one so you can fix it and publish again. The same selection lets you Unpublish, Archive or Move to trash.
