Each paragraph's audio remembers exactly what it was made from. When that changes, Muvo marks the audio Out of date instead of silently keeping a narration that no longer matches the text. Nothing is regenerated on its own: you decide when, and you see the cost first.
What makes audio out of date
| Change | AI voice | Recorded or uploaded audio |
|---|---|---|
| You edit the paragraph's text | Out of date | Out of date: record it again |
| You merge two paragraphs | Out of date | Out of date: record it again |
| An administrator changes the language's voice | Out of date | Not affected |
| You add, change or remove an intonation | Out of date | Not affected |
| You move or delete paragraphs | Not affected | Not affected |
Only the paragraphs that changed are affected; their neighbours keep their audio. A voice change only affects the language whose voice changed. See Choose the voice of each language and Add intonation to the AI voice.
Editing the original text does not touch the audio of its translations. Instead, the translated paragraph is flagged because its original changed, so you can check the translation first. See Review translations.
How you see it
- The paragraph's audio status shows Out of date. You can still play the old audio to compare.
- The bottom bar of the editor counts only paragraphs with up-to-date audio, for example 8 of 10 paragraphs with audio.
- Listen to all skips paragraphs whose audio is out of date.
- A recorded paragraph whose text changed shows a notice under it: The text changed after it was recorded. Record it again: it is never replaced by the AI voice on its own.
Regenerate only what changed
For one paragraph, open its … menu and choose Generate the audio again. For every out-of-date paragraph of a language at once:
Open the artwork in the language you want to fix.
In the bottom bar, open the arrow next to Generate what is pending (N).
Choose Generate pending and outdated (N). It covers the paragraphs with no audio and the AI paragraphs that no longer match.
Check the cost and press Confirm.
Each regenerated paragraph costs 1 credit. If your space already has an audio with exactly the same text, language, voice and intonations, it is reused for free; this often happens when you undo a change. After a voice change, the notice in Settings → Voice and music also offers Regenerate · N credits for all affected paragraphs.
Avoid Regenerate all (N) unless you really want everything again: it regenerates up-to-date paragraphs too, at 1 credit each, and replaces recordings.
Recordings are never replaced on their own
A recording or an uploaded audio is yours, so Muvo never swaps it for the AI voice. The generate options skip recorded paragraphs, even when their text changed. To fix them, press Record again under the paragraph, or Record again (N) in the bottom bar to open the recording studio on the first of them. Recording is free.
If you would rather use the AI voice for that paragraph, choose Replace with the AI voice in its menu. The confirmation warns you before the recording is replaced. See Record your own voice.
What visitors hear meanwhile
Visitors always hear the published version, with the text and audio it had when you published it. Editing, changing a voice or regenerating audio only changes your draft, so out-of-date audio never reaches them.
New audio reaches visitors only when you publish again. A language can only be published when every paragraph has up-to-date audio, so regenerate or record what is out of date, then press Publish changes. See Publish and versions.
