Your audio guides start with Free access: anyone who scans a QR code gets in and listens. With Access with code, each visitor needs a 6-digit code that you hand out at the entrance, with the ticket, on a guided tour or in a school package. You can give them away or charge for them within your own ticket; that money does not go through Muvo. Access with code is available on every plan.
What visitors do with a code
The visitor scans any QR code of your space. With access with code, the player shows the name and image of the artwork and asks them to Enter your code, without the text or the audio.
They type the 6 digits and press Enter. If they scan the QR code printed next to their code instead, the code is already filled in and they only press Enter.
The code starts a pass: every published audio guide of your space, on that phone, for a set time. The player shows Pass active with the time left and warns them 10 minutes before it ends.
When the pass ends, the player asks for a new code.
The pass lasts 2 hours by default, counted from the moment the code is typed. You see the length that applies to your space in Access codes; if you need a different one, write to hola@muvo.es.
- If they change phones, they type the same code again within the pass. A code works on 2 phones at most; typing it again on the same phone does not use the second one.
- Visitors who get in with a code do not count towards the visitors of your plan: the code is already their visit. The visitor limit of your plan only applies to free access, and Statistics shows them apart (With a code).
Get or buy codes
| Plan | Codes |
|---|---|
| Zero | You buy them, in batches of 100, 500 or 1,000. |
| Premium | A number of free codes each calendar month, shown in Codes included in your plan. They do not add up from one month to the next; if you need more, you buy them. |
| Ultra | Unlimited: ask for as many as you need, at no cost. |
Go to Access codes.
On Premium or Ultra, under Codes included in your plan, choose How many codes and press Get free codes.
To buy codes, choose a batch under Buy codes and press Buy. You pay once by card and get an invoice.
Wait a few seconds while the batch is prepared. It appears in Your batches as Ready.
See the price per code on the pricing page. You can get and print codes while your audio guides still have free access, to be ready on the day you switch.
Editors can get the free codes and print any batch. Buying, cancelling codes and changing the access are for administrators.
Print and hand out codes
Each batch has three ways out. Each one first asks Which codes: Only the unused ones (the default, so you never reprint spent codes) or Every code of the batch.
- CSV: the codes in a spreadsheet, for your ticketing system or a mail merge.
- Print on a thermal printer: one ticket per code on a 58 mm or 80 mm receipt roll, like the one at your ticket desk. Each ticket has the code, a QR code that opens your space with the code filled in, your logo, the last day to use it, its serial number and short instructions.
- Print and cut out: a PDF of A4 sheets with 10 codes each, with the same details, for a home or office printer.
Connect the thermal printer to the computer (USB, network or Bluetooth) with its driver installed.
Press Print on a thermal printer, choose the Roll width and Which tickets to print (From no. … to no.), then press Open the print view.
In the print dialog, choose the thermal printer, margins «None» and scale 100%. If your printer has a cutter, turn on cutting after each page in its preferences.
Every card and ticket carries a serial number: the four letters of the batch, its position and the batch size, for example «KXPT 301/1000». If the roll runs out, print again from the next number. The serial number is also how you find a code in Help a visitor when the visitor no longer has it.
Code states and limits
Press View codes on a batch to see every code with its State and when it was Redeemed. Administrators can Cancel a code from there.
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Unused | Ready to hand out. |
| Active | A visitor's pass is running with it. |
| Used | Its pass is over. A code is used only once. |
| Expired | It was not used in time. |
| Cancelled | An administrator cancelled it. If it was active, the pass ended at that moment. |
- Unused codes expire 12 months after you get them; each batch shows the date. Bought codes that expire unused are not refunded.
- To stop guessing, a phone that types 10 wrong codes in 10 minutes must wait a few minutes before trying again, and there is also a limit per network.
Switch to access with code
Go to Access codes. The Access to your audio guides card, at the top, shows how visitors get in now: Free access or Access with code.
Press Change access.
Read the three steps, What changes, The codes and What a code gives, with Next.
Tick the three boxes and press Switch to access with code.
Once access with code is on, nobody can listen without a code. Print your codes and explain to the people at the entrance how to hand them out before you switch.
To go back, press Change access again, tick the box and confirm Back to free access. Your codes are kept and work again if you switch back to access with code later, until they expire.
When a visitor has a problem with a code
A broken phone, a flat battery, a visit that runs late: from Access codes → Help a visitor, anyone on your team can look a code up, free its phones or add a little time, within limits that stop a code from being handed out twice. See Help a visitor with their code.
