A good stop is not a shorter catalogue entry: it is built differently. This template is the one Muvo's content team uses. Each block is one paragraph in the Muvo editor, so visitors can also start listening from any of them.
The five blocks
| Block | What it does | Time | Words |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Hook | Directs the eye or asks a question | 5–10 s | 15–25 |
| 2. Minimal context | Who, when and what, only what is needed | 15–20 s | 35–50 |
| 3. Story | The core: a tension, a decision or a secret | 35–45 s | 80–110 |
| 4. Guided look | One detail to check on the piece | 10–15 s | 25–35 |
| 5. Close | The idea to keep and where to go next | 5–10 s | 15–25 |
Spoken Spanish runs at about 150 to 200 words a minute, and the AI voices of Muvo speak within that range. Word counts are a guide: the stopwatch decides.
An example, block by block
A fictional portrait. The catalogue entry opens with «Oil on canvas, c. 1632» and leaves its best story, a hidden object under the sitter's hand, for the last line. Rewritten for the ear:
- Hook: «Before anything else, look at this woman's left hand. It is empty, resting on her skirt. But it was not always so.»
- Story: «In 2019, while the painting was being restored, another hand appeared underneath. And that hand was holding something. The painter himself covered it with his brush.»
- Context: «She is doña Inés de Ayala. She sat for this portrait in Madrid, around 1632, and she belonged to one of the most powerful families in Spain.»
- Guided look: «Look at the lace of her collar. The painter did it almost thread by thread: he wanted everyone to see the family could afford it.»
- Close: «Look at her again. Now you know that hand keeps a secret. When you are ready, go on to the case on your right.»
Put the best story first, not last. The visitors who leave halfway should still have heard it.
Welcome, introductions and «find out more»
- Welcome (60 seconds at most): what the visitor will find, how long the guide lasts and how to use it. Not the history of the building.
- Room or period introduction (90 seconds at most): only when what comes next cannot be understood without it.
- «Find out more» layer: for the visitor who wants more, as a separate stop, never inside the main one. In Muvo, an artwork's extras are a good place for it. See Add extras below the player.
Write it in Muvo
Open the artwork and write each block as its own paragraph (press Enter to start the next one).
Keep each paragraph well under the 800-character limit: a block of this template rarely needs more than 600.
Read the stop aloud with a stopwatch, then generate the voice and listen to it on your phone, standing in front of the piece if you can.
Muvo's content team can also write the stops for you and publish them. Ask us for a quote: Audio guide writing service.
