A tour is an ordered list of published artworks that visitors follow one after another: «The essentials in 45 minutes», a route for schools or a themed walk. It has its own QR code, so visitors can scan it at the entrance and start from the first stop.
Create the tour
Go to Tours and press New tour.
Type a Name and press Create tour. The tour opens as a draft.
Open the Tour details panel, Details tab, to add a Description (shown before the tour starts) and an Image for the list of tours in the player. Press Save.
Your plan sets how many tours you can have. The Tours page shows how many you have used; see the plans on the pricing page.
Add and order the stops
Open the Stops tab.
In Add published artworks, search by name or audio guide number and pick an artwork. It is added at the end.
Drag the stops into the order you want. With the keyboard, focus a stop, press Space, move it with the arrows and press Space again.
To take a stop out, use the remove button next to it. The artwork itself is not affected.
- Only published artworks can be added.
- The same artwork can be in several tours, but only once in each.
- A tour can have up to 200 stops.
If you unpublish or archive an artwork that is in a tour, visitors skip it and the editor marks it Not published: skipped or Archived: skipped. Publish it again and it comes back to the tour in its place.
Add a welcome text
The welcome is optional. It plays when the tour starts, before the first stop. Open the Welcome tab and write it in paragraphs, exactly like the text of an artwork, with an AI voice or your own recording. See Write the text of an artwork in paragraphs.
For now, the translations of the welcome are written by hand: AI translation is not available for it. If you start a welcome, it must be complete, with audio in every paragraph, before you can publish the tour. Otherwise leave it empty.
Estimated duration
Muvo computes the duration for you: it adds up the published audio of every published stop, in the default language of your space, plus the welcome, rounded to the minute. Until the stops have published audio, the Details tab says It will be computed once the stops have published audio.
The audio does not count the time visitors spend walking and looking. To show a realistic time, turn on Type the duration by hand and enter the minutes (from 1 to 1,440). Visitors see it next to the number of stops.
Publish the tour and print its QR code
To publish, a tour needs a name in the default language and at least one published artwork. Press Publish. Later edits stay as Unpublished changes until you press Publish changes.
Every publication is saved in the Versions tab. Back to this version turns the draft into that version, with its stops and details; visitors keep the published one until you publish again. Artworks deleted since then are not added back.
The QR tab has the tour's QR code. Its address never changes when you edit the tour, so you print it once. See Print QR labels for your artworks.
How visitors follow a tour
- Scanning the tour's QR code opens the first stop with the list of stops visible. If there is a welcome, it comes first.
- Visitors can open the list at any time and jump to any stop. The stops they have already heard are marked as heard on their phone.
- When a stop ends, the player offers the next one with a 5-second countdown that they can cancel.
- Tours also appear in the list of audio guides of your space, which opens from the space's general QR code.
Visitors do not need to scan the label of each artwork during a tour: the next stop is always one tap away. Labels next to each artwork are still useful for visitors walking on their own.
