Many museums do not print their own signs: a design team lays them out, a print shop produces them, or a workshop engraves them on metal or wood. They do not need an editor; they need the original files and to know which code goes on which artwork. Muvo prepares that for them in one click: a tidy ZIP, explained so well that nobody has to call you to ask.

Prepare the package

  1. Go to QR codes. Tick the codes you want, or press Prepare for printing to take them all.

  2. Choose Files for your designer or print shop.

  3. Check the Codes (press Change to add or remove some), the Formats and the Versions.

  4. Choose the Documentation language: the language of whoever will work with the files.

  5. Press Prepare the package. It takes a few seconds; you can keep working and Muvo tells you when it is ready.

  6. Press Download ZIP, or Send by email to hand it over directly.

On the right of the page, What arrives shows the folders and files the ZIP will contain, so you know what you are sending before you send it.

What is inside the ZIP

File or folderWhat it is for
README.txtA document for the designer: what Muvo QR codes are, the folders, the formats, how to print them (minimum size, margin, contrast, a test before the whole run) and, for every code, its artwork, number, code, link, file names, status and the fields of the sheet such as the artist. It ends with who sent it and how to reach them.
codes.csvThe same list for Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets, with the name of each artwork in every language and its fields. Handy for laying out labels with data merge.
codes.htmlA page with every QR code drawn next to its artwork, to check at a glance in a browser that each code goes with the right piece.
1-…QR / svg, png, pdfThe codes with the style of your space, one file per code, named 012-artwork-name-CODE.
2-basic-black-and-white-QROnly when your codes have a custom style: the same codes in classic black and white, in case the design or the material asks for them.
laser-and-vinyl / positive, negativeOne colour, no background, for laser engraving, vinyl cutting or screen printing. positive engraves the dark modules (light materials); negative engraves the background (dark materials such as anodised metal, slate or dark wood).

Which format to choose

  • SVG: vector, sharp at any size. What designers, print shops and engraving machines prefer. Leave it on.
  • PDF: vector, one code per file, opens on any computer and in Illustrator.
  • PNG: an image for Word, presentations or social media. Choose 1,200 px (up to 10 cm at 300 dpi), 2,400 px (20 cm) or 4,800 px (40 cm).

Send it by email

  1. Press Send by email next to the ready package (here or in QR codes → Prepared files).

  2. Write up to five addresses, separated by commas, and a message if you like, such as the final size of the labels.

  3. Choose the Email language and whether to Send me a copy, then press Send.

They receive an email with your name, your message and a button to a download page that works without an account. If they reply, the answer reaches you. The file shows who it was sent to in Prepared files.

Packages are kept for 30 days and then deleted, together with their links. The email and the download page tell the recipient the date, so they download it in time. If they miss it, prepare and send a new one: the codes are the same.
