Muvo turns your texts into an audio guide that visitors play on their own phone by scanning a QR code. This article takes you from no account to your first artwork playing on a phone. It takes about ten minutes, it is free and we never ask for a card to start.
There are no passwords in Muvo. Signing up and signing in are the same screen: if your email has no account yet, it is created the first time you get in.
Go to muvo.es and press Start for free.
Choose Continue with Google, Continue with Microsoft or Continue with LinkedIn, or type your email and press Email me a link.
If you asked for a link, open the email and click it. The link expires in 15 minutes and works only once.
Your account is your email. If you sign in with Google one day and with an email link the next, you land in the same account as long as the email is the same.
Create your space
A space is your museum, school or monument in Muvo. Its artworks, team and credits are kept apart from every other space. Creating it asks for three details only.
Type the Space name. Visitors will see it, and you can change it later.
Choose What kind of space is it? Muvo suggests fields for your artworks that fit the type, such as author and year for a museum.
Pick the Main language: the one you write your texts in. Translations start from it.
Tick the box to accept the terms and the privacy policy, if you have not accepted them before.
Press Create my space.
Your space starts on the Zero plan, with some welcome credits to try the AI voice and with open access: anyone who scans a QR code can listen.
Write your first artwork
An artwork is one stop of the audio guide: a painting, a room or a point on a route. Muvo asks Shall we create your first artwork now? and guides you through it.
Press Yes, create my first artwork.
Type the Artwork name.
Check the text. Three sample paragraphs are already written: replace them with yours or keep them to try it out.
Use Add a paragraph if you need more. Keep each paragraph short: up to 800 characters.
Texts in Muvo are always split into paragraphs. Each paragraph has its own audio, so the voice sounds natural from start to finish and fixing one sentence only redoes one paragraph.
Give it a voice
Next, choose how the artwork will sound. You have two options:
- AI voice: a natural synthetic voice reads each paragraph in a few seconds. The button shows the cost before you confirm, for example Generate audio · 3 credits, and how many credits will remain.
- Record the voice myself: record it in the browser, paragraph by paragraph. Recording costs no credits. See Record your own voice.
If you skip this step, you can generate or record the audio later from the editor of the artwork. See Generate the AI voice of your texts.
Listen on your phone and publish
On Listen on your phone, scan the large QR code with your phone camera. The artwork opens in the browser, no app needed.
If you are not near your phone, use Open it on this computer.
Press Go to my panel when you are done.
Open Artworks and check the status of your artwork. If it says Draft, open it and press Publish.
An artwork can only be published when its text in the main language has at least one paragraph and every paragraph has audio, generated or recorded. If Publish is not available, the button tells you what is missing.
Publishing is what visitors hear. Later edits stay in a draft until you press Publish changes, so you can work calmly on a live audio guide.
