By default your audio guides are in Open mode: anyone who scans a QR code listens. In Closed mode, each visitor needs a 6-digit code that you hand out at the entrance, with the ticket, on a guided tour or in a school package. Closed mode is available on every plan.

What changes for visitors

  • When they scan any QR code of your space, the player asks them to Enter your code. Without a code they see the name and image of the artwork, but not the text or the audio.
  • If they scan the QR code printed next to their code, the code is already filled in.
  • A valid code gives them a pass: every published audio guide of your space, on their phone, for a set time. The player shows the time left and warns them shortly before it ends.
  • When the pass ends, the player asks for a code again.

Each phone that gets in still counts as a different visitor of the month on your plan, just as in open mode.

How codes work

  • A code has 6 digits and is used once: it is one visit of one person.
  • The pass starts when the code is typed and lasts two hours unless Muvo set another length for your space. You see the current length in Plan and credits → Codes. If you need a different one, write to hola@muvo.es.
  • If the visitor changes phone, they can type the same code again during their pass. It works on 2 phones at most.
  • Unused codes expire 12 months after you get them and are not refunded.
  • Too many wrong attempts from one phone are blocked for a few minutes, so codes cannot be guessed.
StateMeaning
UnusedReady to hand out.
ActiveA visitor is listening with it right now.
UsedIts pass is over.
ExpiredIt was not used within 12 months.
CancelledAn administrator cancelled it. If it was active, the pass ended at that moment.

Codes included in your plan

PlanCodes
ZeroYou buy them, in batches of 100, 500 or 1,000.
Premium250 free codes a month. They do not add up from one month to the next; if you need more, buy them.
UltraUnlimited: ask for as many as you need, at no cost.

The price per code is on the pricing page and in Plan and credits → Codes before you pay. You can get and print codes while your audio guides are still open, so you are ready on the day you close them.

Get your codes

  1. Go to Plan and credits → Codes.

  2. On Premium or Ultra, choose How many codes under Codes included in your plan and press Get free codes.

  3. To buy codes, choose a batch under Buy codes and press Buy. You pay by card on Stripe and get a VAT invoice.

  4. Wait a few seconds while the batch is prepared. It appears in Your batches as Ready.

Editors can get the free codes of the plan and print any batch. Buying codes, cancelling a code and changing the mode are for administrators. Editors see no prices.

Each batch offers three ways out. Each one first asks Which codes: Only the unused ones (the default, so you never reprint spent codes) or Every code of the batch.

  • Download PDF to print: A4 sheets to cut out. Each piece has the code, a QR code that opens your space with the code filled in, your logo and short instructions.
  • CSV: the codes in a spreadsheet, for your ticketing system or a mail merge.
  • Print on a thermal printer: one ticket per code on a 58 mm or 80 mm receipt roll, like the one at your ticket desk.
  1. For thermal tickets, connect the printer to the computer with its driver installed.

  2. Press Print on a thermal printer, choose the Roll width and Which tickets to print, then press Open the print view.

  3. In the print dialog, choose the thermal printer, margins «None» and scale 100%. If your printer can cut on its own, turn on cutting after each page in its preferences.

Tickets are numbered within the batch. If the roll runs out, print again from the next number.

Switch to closed mode

  1. Go to Plan and credits → Plan. The Your plan card shows your current mode.

  2. Press Change mode.

  3. Read the three steps: what changes, the codes your plan includes and what a code gives.

  4. Tick the three boxes and press Switch to closed mode.

Once closed mode is on, nobody can listen without a code. Have codes printed and explain to the people at the entrance how to hand them out before you switch.

To reopen, press Change mode again and confirm Switch to open mode. Your codes are kept and work again if you close later, until they expire.
