About us
Culture shouldn't need a translator
MUVO exists so that anyone — regardless of age, language, or how much they already know about art or history — can experience a museum, a cathedral, or an archaeological site as if the best possible guide were standing right next to them.
Why MUVO exists
Audio guides have solved the same problem the same way for more than thirty years: a single script, recorded once, written for an average visitor who doesn't actually exist. An eight-year-old, a tourist who doesn't speak the local language, and an art historian all hear exactly the same explanation, even though none of them needs the same thing.
MUVO was born out of that discomfort. Not as a criticism of the institutions themselves — which have spent decades preserving and sharing their heritage with the tools available to them — but as a product question: what if the technology we already use to personalize almost everything else in our digital lives were applied to how we understand a museum?
The project started by combining two disciplines that rarely sit in the same team: user-centred product design and applied artificial intelligence engineering. Instead of starting from the technology and looking for a use case, we started from the problem — cultural mediation is still rigid, expensive to produce, and hard to keep up to date — and built the solution backwards from there.
Today MUVO is at the minimum viable product (MVP) stage, working closely with the first institutions that have trusted the project. We prefer to be upfront about this: we're not promising a finished, magical technology, but a platform in constant evolution, built with rigour, that already solves a real problem today and keeps improving with every new institution that joins.
“We believe museums shouldn't intimidate — they should invite discovery.”
Our mission
MUVO's mission is to democratise access to cultural knowledge. Museums, churches, cathedrals, archaeological sites, and any institution devoted to sharing knowledge hold extraordinary heritage, yet they've historically been perceived as intimidating spaces, accessible only to those who already have prior background. MUVO wants to break that barrier by adapting the institution's communication to each person, rather than asking each person to adapt to a single format of communication.
The principles that guide us
Inclusivity
Anyone, regardless of age, background, language, or ability, should be able to enjoy and learn in any cultural or knowledge space.
Accessible knowledge
We turn complex, specialised information into content that's understandable and engaging for each visitor profile, without oversimplifying or losing rigour.
Innovation in service of culture
We use artificial intelligence as a means, never as an end. Technology only matters if it improves the human experience within the cultural space.
Rigour above everything
Our AI doesn't invent or speculate. It always works from the official content provided and validated by the institution itself. Zero hallucinations, zero improvisation.
Respect for institutional judgement
MUVO doesn't replace the judgement of each institution's professionals — it amplifies it. Decisions about what to tell and how to tell it remain theirs.
Sustainability
A model with no proprietary hardware, no devices to manufacture, sanitise, or discard. Less logistics, less waste, less unnecessary operating cost.
Visitor-centred design
Every product decision — from the interface to the tone of an explanation — is made with the person standing in front of the artwork in mind first.
Our commitment to rigour
We're aware that we work with cultural, historical, and religious heritage: sensitive content, often protected, and always deserving of careful treatment. That's why MUVO's system never generates content from generic internet knowledge: it works exclusively within the corpus of information that each institution uploads, reviews, and validates through its own content management panel.
In practice, this means that if a piece isn't documented by the institution, MUVO doesn't make it up. We'd rather offer an incomplete but accurate guide than a complete but inaccurate one. This principle — no hallucinations, no improvisation — is non-negotiable and is part of the product's technical design, not just its messaging.
The founding team
Miquel Gomis
Founder and Head of Product
MUVO was founded and is led by Miquel Gomis, an AI Product Engineer and Design Engineer based in Madrid with over fifteen years of experience building digital products. His profile combines something fairly uncommon: a career spent across both product design and software development, with a recent focus on integrating artificial intelligence in a functional way — never a cosmetic one — into the experience of the people using a product.
His training combines a Diploma in Digital Design (IED Madrid) with a technical background in application development, kept current through continuous training in web accessibility and UX fundamentals. On the technical side, he regularly works with TypeScript, React, and Next.js on the frontend; Node.js and PostgreSQL for backend and infrastructure; and, within artificial intelligence, with large language model integration, multilingual neural text-to-speech, computer vision, guardrailed agent design, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems.
Before founding MUVO, he independently launched five production-grade, AI-native projects across very different domains: multilingual voice generation, large-scale programmatic SEO, computer-vision-based data extraction, conditional decision-making agents, and RAG-based content generation. That prior experience — building, shipping, and maintaining real AI products, not just prototypes — is precisely what makes it possible for MUVO to exist as a solid platform from its earliest stage.
MUVO is the natural convergence of that trajectory: applying product and AI engineering to a problem with real cultural and social meaning — making heritage and knowledge understandable to anyone, in any language, at any starting level.
Where we are
MUVO is based in Madrid and currently operates in the Spanish market, with a clear ambition for international expansion. The platform's multilingual nature and the borderless reach typical of a SaaS model let us grow into new countries without added friction.
